The Turkish Foreign Ministry condemned the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the Hamas political bureau chief, calling it a “heinous” act. In their statement, they expressed condolences to the Palestinian people and reiterated their stance on supporting the Palestinian cause. The ministry also criticized the Israeli government under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accusing it of lacking the intent to pursue peace. Additionally, the ministry warned that the assassination could escalate the regional conflict if the international community does not intervene to stop Israel’s actions.
Haniyeh was reported to have been killed in an Israeli airstrike targeting his residence in Tehran.
